Gage

Gage grew up in a rural part of San Diego surrounded by animals and agriculture, which is where he found an appreciation for working with them recreationally and in a veterinary sense. His family was always bursting at the seams with pets like dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, and birds – they even had some animals on their property that were more uncommon, such as: llamas, geese, and potbelly pigs.

At Stenner Creek Animal Hospital, Gage performs the duties of a veterinary assistant and has been with us since the beginning of 2023. He also helps manage the practice where needed, primarily relating to pharmaceuticals and supplies. Additionally, Gage’s grandparents have a ranch near his family home where he rode horses and raised goats for meat and dairy. After graduating from UCSB in 2022, he wanted to get back into ranching – this inspired him to move up to SLO, where he got a job helping run Dr. O’Reilly’s beef cattle ranch.

Between ranching and veterinary work, Gage stays quite busy, but in his free time he likes to camp, spend time with his sisters and parents (and his red husky, Koda!), and have barbecues with friends. He is planning on returning to school within the next couple years, but wants to continue working with cattle (and animals in general) his whole life.
